MLSP 111 GN: Latin America Language and Leadership

This course examines moments of radical change in Latin American society, highlighting pivotal decision points, creative initiatives, and the key leaders behind them. A weekly, case-study approach addresses a variety of crossroads throughout the history of the region, including conquest and resistance, revolution, feminist innovations, environmental threats, labor struggle, and more. National and indigenous languages are seen for their key role at each step; poetry, prose, song and testimonial literature are considered, along with relevant film.
