PHYS 240 Basic Electronics
This course is an introduction to basic electronics and instrumentation for scientists. The goal is to introduce the student to modern electronic circuit building blocks – integrated circuits and electronic sensors along with electronic instrumentation. Special emphasis will be placed on the application of the personal computer (PC) as a virtual electronic instrument. The students will receive hands on experience in the use of LabView software that provides a graphical programming environment to use the computer plug-in cards and a PC for analysis and display. This new technology will be used in the study of basic electronic and DC circuits, semiconductor circuit devices (transistors) and analog and digital integrated circuits.
